Wrapping up 2024 was a unique experience for us. As with many life changes, plans and realities are often very different. This held true as for the first time we spent the holiday without our children, hitting us harder than expected. Thankfully my mom, Cathy, decided that a tropical Christmas was just what she needed and we were thrilled to have her and Katie stay with us for two weeks.

We had a fantastic time showing off the town and beach that we have come to love. Sharing a few of our favorite local shops, eateries and of course our beloved dog beach. Katie was beside herself with all the new smells, people and dogs. Though she shared the same aversion to the water that Henry does running from the incoming waves in order to prevent wet paws.

Christmas Eve we attended the local Surfing Santas Festival. This fundraiser held annually has grown into a local tradition and we had a blast celebrating with good food, Hawaiian dancers, surf music and a parade of Christmas fashion in all the ways you can imagine.

New year’s eve found us as it usually does, sound asleep tucked in bed. However, I was thrilled to greet the new year at sunrise on the beach.

As we greet this new year we will continue our search for a sailboat to live and cruise on. In the meantime we are enjoying this time in Cocoa Beach.
